"It is never too late to be what you might have been"

GEORGE ELIOT

WHO I AM

I’m an experienced Gestalt therapist with a background in working with people from all walks of life. I believe in combining therapeutic approaches to bring whatever is needed to the client in the moment.  I understand personally the great value of therapy when times are difficult, and I bring this understanding to my own practice.

I was the youngest ever Samaritan at the New Cross branch way back in 1991, and since then I’ve been fascinated by psychology, and looking at what helps make life more bearable.  I really believe in the connection between us making all the difference when we are struggling.

I spent some years making television programmes about subjects such as Relate’s Psychosexual Therapy and Teenage Runaways for C4’s Dispatches.  This brought me to see that I wanted to help people in a different way, and I trained as a therapist.  I have my own experience of life-changing events, which led to my understanding of just how valuable good therapy can be.

I've worked in community counselling with all backgrounds and ages from 18+ for some years now, as well as having run workshops and worked with students.

I am also a writer; I've written on topics from Yo Yo Dieting to Sibling Rivalry to Infertility, Obsessive Love and Parental mental health issues.  Where and when it feels right, I encourage clients who are interested to use journal writing and drawing to help their process - only if it appeals to do so, of course!
