The relationship between client and counsellor is key, so it’s important that you find the right therapist for you. It’s a good idea to talk to a few before making a decision, so we can meet for an initial session before moving forward.

Sometimes you might want to come for a specific reason and for a short, agreed period of counselling; at other times, on-going and open-ended therapy might suit you better. Whatever the total length of the therapy, therapy always works best on a regular weekly basis.

Practicalities: Counselling appointments are for 50 minutes / an hour, depending on location.

The aim of the first meeting is to identify the key issues you wish to address, how I think I can help, and for you decide if you want to work with me. I then suggest we work for a minimum of six appointments. We’ll then reflect together on how you have experienced working together, what’s been useful and our focus for moving forward.
